Salamon & Seaber offers a full analytical service for vegetable oils (including essential oils), oil seeds, and fats (including tallows). As full members FOSFA analysts we have experience and are able to carry out a wide range of tests.

Analyses may be carried out with respect to international standards such as FOSFA, ISO, Codex Alimentarius, British / European Pharmacopoeia, US Pharmacopoeia and others as requested.

Published methods used are those of FOSFA, AOAC, AOCS, BP, USP, FCC, ISO and others as requested by the client.

Oil seeds (e.g. Sunflower, Sesame, Rapeseed, Soya bean, Groundnut, Cottonseed)

Typical analysis required on FOSFA contracts include :

• Moisture and volatile matter content
• Impurities (Admixture, Foreign Matter)
• Oil content
• Free Fatty Acids (FFA)

Other tests include

• Determination of Damaged Soya Beans
• Physical analysis according to USDA, CONCEX, ANEC specifications
• Physical analysis of Cottonseeds, including damaged seeds

Oils and Fats (Edible oils, Refined and Crude oils and fats)

Including Corn oil, Sunflower oil, Groundnut oil, Palm oil, Palm Olein etc.

• Fatty acid profile (to determine identity)
• Moisture and volatile matter content
• Insoluble impurities
