Analysis of damaged cargoes

Salamon & Seaber undertake comprehensive examinations to help establish the cause of damage to, or contamination of, cargoes.

The methods used include the following :-

  1. Investigation for salt water / rain water damage.
  2. Investigation for contamination from previous cargoes.
  3. Chemical / organoleptic testing to establish whether there has been overheating.
  4. Identification of moulds, insects etc.
  5. Investigations to establish whether there has been any damage during transit to foods and feeds.
  6. Solvent residue levels eg. hexane in soya bean meal.
